BAKED APPLE SAUCE

Ingredients

  • 8 large apples (I used 4 Granny Smith and 4 Macintosh)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  2. Prepare a 2 1/2 quart baking dish by spraying it with cooking spray.
  3. In a small bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon and vanilla. Mix well.
  4. Peel, core and cut apples into slices.
  5. Place apples into a large bowl.
  6. Pour sugar mixture over apples and toss to coat.
  7. Pour apples into prepared baking dish and cover with tin foil.
  8. Bake for 45-60 minutes, or until apples are tender.
  9. Uncover and use a potato masher to crush the apples.
  10. Serve warm.
