Ingredients:
- 1 cup warm milk (110-115ยฐF)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook attachment, combine the flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add the frothy yeast mixture and eggs to the dry ingredients. Mix until a rough dough forms.
- Add the softened butter, one tablespoon at a time, mixing well after each addition, until all the butter is incorporated.
- Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes, either by hand on a floured surface or using the stand mixer, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the risen dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Divide the dough into equal-sized pieces and shape each into a ball.
- Place the shaped rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving some space between them to rise.
- Cover the rolls loosely with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until they have doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).
- Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack before serving.
