Why have basic buttered popcorn when you can have popcorn with the caramelly sweet candy crunch of pralines? Itโs a no-brainer. If youโve had a pecan praline in the southern tradition, then you know just how delicious the combination is and when you add popcorn to the mixโฆ well, then itโs almost too poppable to handle. This is an easy mix to make, but itโs irresistible too, and that makes it perfect for both parties and lazy movie nights on the couch.
At my house, when we sit down to a movie weโre all about air-popped popcorn with nothing but butter and some salt, but when I emerge from the kitchen with a bowl of this, there are literal cheers of joy. Iโm not going to lie โ it does take a little more time than a bowl of regular olโ popcorn, but itโs certainly not time intensive. (And itโs well worth the effort.)
You start with about eight cups of your regular popped popcorn โ if youโre using microwaved, try to find something light on butter and salt as to not interfere with the flavor โ and you toss that together with some pecans. In a saucepan, you melt some butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup (thatโs what gives it that nice candy crunch). You donโt need to worry too much about precise temperature, just bring it to a boil and then remove it from the heat and stir in some vanilla and baking soda. (That also helps with the candy crunch.)
