A whopping 56,000 British people will develop cancer because they are too fat, a new report has warned.
Health charities are calling on the government to do more to clamp down on junk food in light of the stark predictions.
Currently, around 18,000 Britons a year develop cancer because they’re overweight, but that figure is set to treble with in two decades.

That means that by 2035, 56,000 people a year will develop cancer as a result of their weight.
The Obesity Health Alliance which includes Cancer Research UK, the British Medical Association, six Royal Colleges and the Royal Society of Public Health, is calling for junk food advertising to be banned on television between 6am and 9pm and new food industry limits on sugar and fat.
Without action, it is estimated that by 2035 four in 10 people will be dangerously fat, and that, as well as cancer, there will be 4.62 million new cases of type 2 diabetes and 1.63 million cases of coronary heart disease.
