Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, birthdays, and summer BBQs meant one thing for our great big family. We were all getting together to enjoy some quality time. There is nothing quite like spending time with the ones you love. My Grandma, my motherโs mom, makes sure that we spend these precious moments together, so that we can be sure to have memories of being together when times are good, relaxing, and happy. So, thatโs just what we do. At all of these events, there is going to be one thing going on for sure, and thatโs lots of eating.
We are all fairly good cooks so whipping up a nice dish to pass isnโt a problem for most of us. Then, we all get to sample a little something different, and nobody is stuck doing all the cooking themselves.
When I saw these scalloped potatoes on The Recipe Rebel, I knew it was going to be my next passing dish. They were so easy to make and the flavor was really nice. It was unlike any scalloped potato that I had ever had.
This is how we make them now at ย my house. That dill flavor is one that we canโt live without!
These potatoes taste amazing coming out of the oven, but if you want a simpler method, you can also do them in the slow cooker on low for about six to eight hours. Just check and see when they are your desired tenderness after the first six hours are up. If you donโt have that much time, just crank up the heat. To Make this Recipe YouโIl Need the following ingredients:
Sliced potatoes
Spoons butter
Spoons flour
Milk
Spoon salt
Cayenne pepper
Grated sharp cheddar cheese
Grated cheese, to sprinkle on top

INGREDIENTS
4 cups thinly sliced potatoes
3 table spoons butter
3 table spoons flour
1 1โ2 cups milk
1 tea spoon salt
1 dash cayenne pepper
1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
1โ2 cup grated cheese, to sprinkle on top
DIRECTIONS
In a small sauce pan, melt butter and blend in flour.
Let sit for a minute.
Add all of cold milk, stirring with a whisk.
Season with salt and cayenne.
Cook sauce on low until smooth and boiling, stirring occasionally with a whisk.
Reduce heat and stir in cheese.
Place a half of the sliced potatoes in a lightly greased one quart casserole dish.
Pour half of cheese sauce over potatoes.
Repeat with second layer of potatoes and cheese sauce.
Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
Top with some paprika for color.
Bake uncovered for about 1 hour at 350ยฐF.
