Crockpot Honey Garlic Chicken Recipe

Crockpot Honey Garlic Chicken

Crockpot honey garlic chicken is a flavorful and tender dish that’s easy to prepare. Here’s a simple recipe to make it:

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (you can use low-sodium soy sauce if preferred)
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions, for garnish (optional)
  • Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions:

  1. Place the chicken thighs or breasts in the crockpot or slow cooker.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, ketchup, minced garlic, dried basil, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes until well combined.
  3. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the chicken in the crockpot, making sure to coat the chicken pieces evenly.
  4. Cover the crockpot with the lid and cook the chicken on low heat for 4-6 hours or on high heat for 2-3 hours. The chicken is done when it’s tender and cooked through.
  5. Once the chicken is cooked, carefully remove it from the crockpot and place it on a serving platter or plate. Cover it with foil to keep it warm.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the cornstarch and water to make a slurry.
  7. Pour the liquid from the crockpot into a saucepan and bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
  8. Pour the thickened sauce over the chicken.
  9. Garnish the honey garlic chicken with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, if desired.
  10. Serve the honey garlic chicken hot over cooked rice or noodles.
