Ingredients:

For the choux pastry:

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter

1 cup water

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

4 large eggs

For the filling:

1 cup heavy cream

2 tablespoons powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

Make the choux pastry:

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a saucepan, melt butter in water over medium heat.

Once it starts boiling, add flour and salt all at once. Stir vigorously until the dough forms a ball.

Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes. Then, add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.

Shape and bake:

Spoon or pipe the dough onto the baking sheet into small mounds (about 1.5 inches wide).

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and puffed. Let cool completely.

Make the filling:

Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.

Assemble the cream puffs:

Cut the cooled puffs in half and fill with whipped cream. You can also pipe the filling into the center.
